Ticket issue won’t affect alumni turnout

I wanted to take a minute to respond to Ms. Prickett’s letter (April 15) asserting that UT Football will “starve” due to the change in ticket distribution that results in us paying $90 for a full season of football. Her idea that if you don’t please the students, they won’t support you as alumni would be a good one if it made sense. I would suggest Ms. Prickett take a look at every other major football program in the SEC and see that they pay as much or more as we will pay, yet somehow their stadiums are full every home weekend.

It seems to me that it would have been better to just tack on the fees to our required services fee. That way, we’d just roll over and take it. It’s unfortunate that providing us with a selective fee causes more problems than just being shady and sneaking it in on us ever would. I’ll pay my $90, because after next fall, my donation alone will cost more than that.
